Cromwell reopens Wakefield Hospital to support government response to COVID-19

Real estate investor and manager, Cromwell Property Group (ASX:CMW)(Cromwell), has today announced a short-term lease agreement with the South Australian Government for its Wakefield Hospital site to be used as an isolation centre for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wakefield site is a fully functioning, connected hospital with capacity to offer essential patient services. The South Australian Health Department has indicated the 130-bed hospital will be dedicated to caring for mildly acute COVID-19 patients.

Cromwell’s Head of Property, Bobby Binning, said, “We are working closely with the South Australian Government to ensure we can support the local community during this challenging time.

“Reopening Wakefield Hospital will assist in providing local medical services with a greater capacity to treat people suffering from COVID-19.

“Cromwell recognises its responsibility to help ‘flatten the curve’ with regards to the spread of COVID-19, as it continues to have an unprecedented impact globally,” Mr Binning concluded.

Cromwell acquired the 8,712 sqm Wakefield site in December 2017.
